Overall scent
Community-only average: 3.0
Released in 2007, Black Violet by Tom Ford is woody, violet, citrus perfume with mossy undertones. Crafted by Pascal Gaurin and Clement Gavarry. Unique and addicting fragrance, dark and masculine with a hint of femininity, strong, long-lasting scent. It opens with bergamot, citruses and fruity notes, transitions through heart notes of violet, and settles into a warm base of oak moss and woodsy notes. Good Projection and performance is above average 6+ hours.

Black Violet is a really interesting take on a floral, opening with a burst of citrus and fruit before settling into a deep, velvety violet heart. While it leans pretty distinctly feminine, it's got a classic chypre backbone of oakmoss and woods that gives it a sophisticated depth. This one projects well and lasts for ages, making it a solid choice for a date night or a more formal social gathering where you want to make a statement. I’d probably go light if wearing it to the office, but it definitely commands attention.
