Our Story
From a Personal Obsession to a Public Resource
The Scent Base began with a simple frustration: fragrance information was scattered across the internet, buried behind paywalls, or wrapped in marketing speak. As perfume enthusiasts ourselves, we wanted a single place where you could explore the entire world of fragrance — objectively, beautifully, and for free.
What started as a personal database quickly grew into something much larger. Today, we are building the most comprehensive perfume encyclopedia on the internet — a platform where every fragrance, every note, and every house is catalogued, cross-referenced, and accessible to anyone with a love of scent.
Our platform is ad-free by design. We believe that the information you rely on to make purchasing decisions should never be influenced by advertising. While we occasionally run clearly disclosed sponsored content and minimal promotions, our data, reviews, and editorial content remain entirely independent and objective.

The Scent Base is headquartered in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain — a historic crossroads of trade and culture in the heart of the Gulf. Our operations, from curation and content to decanting and fulfilment, are managed from here.
We are a subsidiary of KSR WLL, and the platform is managed by Khalil, a lifelong perfume enthusiast and director who oversees the vision, curation, and day-to-day operations of The Scent Base.
